Five Kapuso and four Kapamilya artists grace the cover of Preview Magazine’s June 2008 issue for the very first time in celebration of its 13th Anniversary.

Kapuso stars Yasmien Kurdi, Rhian Ramos, Lovi Poe, Glaiza De Castro and Jewel Mische together with Kapamilya princesses Maja Salvador, Kim Chiu, Melissa Ricks and Carla Humphries donned Prada’s 2008 Spring/Summer Fairy Collection in a two-day photo shoot at the Heritage Park.

Preview Magazine’s 13th Anniversary issue is now available in magazine outlets and bookstores nationwide.

After Karylle, it’s Rhian Ramos’ turn to host Pinoy Idol Extra.

And the verdict?

She passed the test with flying colors.

Though a first timer in TV hosting, Rhian was able to connect to the viewers. Her unique and ‘very girly’ approach sets her apart from the others who sound like fish vendors in a crowded public market.

Although Rhian and Karylle have contrasting hosting styles, they were still able to pull it through and put to rest the questions regarding their abilities to host Pinoy Idol Extra.

Demolition job against Marian continues

Posted by kaASARAN | 4:11 PM |

We are proud to play dirty.

It’s probably the guiding words of the people behind the demolition job against Dyesebel Star and reigning queen of Philippine primetime television, Marian Rivera.

After the controversial YouTube video showing her confronting an unknown man in the set of Dyesebel, the demolition job continues and this time they even went to her hometown in Cavite to find flaws that they could use to destroy her character.

Unfortunately for them, all they’ve heard are positive testimonies about Marian.

As an old tagalog saying goes “Ang punong hitik sa bunga, binabato di ba.”

As Marian’s star shines the brightest, as she continue to reap successes here and there. From the high ratings of her primetime soap Dyesebel, back-to-back commercial endorsements, blockbuster movies and multi-platimum records who could possibly argue that she’s indeed the No. 1 female celebrity in the country today.

Kapuso shows continued its dominance over Kapamilya shows in both daytime and primetime.

Da Big Show hosted by Ogie Alcasid scored 14.6% to edged out rival game show Pilipinas, GKNB? hosted by Edu Manzano with 14.1%.

Kapuso game show Gobingo hosted by Arnel Ignacio is also going strong although its 11.8% rating still wasn’t enough to beat Kris Aquino’s Wheel Of Fortune with 13%.

Here are the comparative ratings of GMA 7 and ABS-CBN shows last Wednesday, June 04, 2008 based on the overnight ratings conducted by AGB Nielsen Philippines on Mega Manila households.

Last June 4, during the taping of the ninth installment of GMA 7’s Sine Novela presents Gaano Kadalas Ang Minsan, lead actress Sunshine Dizon got vey sick.

As of the moment, there’s still no details about the sickness of the young actress.
They can’t postponed the taping though because they only have a week’s head start as the show is already scheduled to pilot this coming June 17.

The GMA 7 management already arrived at a decision to replace Sunshine Dizon to give her enough time to rest and recover. They also said that they will give her another project as soon as she’s already fit and healthy to work.

There’s still no official statement coming from Sunshine’s camp but rumor has it that Camille Pratts will replace her. And if the talks will push through, Camille will have her pictorial tomorrow.

Marvin Agustin and Diana Zubiri will remain.

Dennis Trillo said that he’s very excited for his new project on GMA 7, the superhero-themed Gagambino, where he will play the lead role.

In an interview with Chika Minute, Dennis said that he’s having mixed emotions for his new project.

“Magkahalong kaba, nerbyos, excitement, overwhelm, lahat-lahat na nun. Una hindi ko na-absorb hindi ko alam na sa akin ibibigay (ang project),” he revealed.

Aside from building a superhero physique, he is also undergoing intense training in capoeira, one of the many forms of martial arts. He said that capoeira’s graceful movements fit his character in Gagambino.

“Kasabay na dun ang pampapalaki ng katawan kailangan mong ma-build yun superhero physique. Yun requirement na yun kapag gaganap ka na superhero dapat maganda ang pangangatawan,” he added.

When the taping for Gagambino starts, Dennis will be very busy because he will be working with two projects by then, the other one is his afternoon soap Sine Novela presents Magdusa Ka with Katrina Halili.

After his controversial macho dancing scene, he made news again with his daring love scene with Katrina in that particular afternoon soap.

“Yun ginawa namin iba sya. Kung baga ngayon lang ako nakagawa ng love scene na ganoon kadetalye talaga,” he said.

And how do they prepared for that scene?

“Pinaghandaan namin yun ni Katrina. Umaga pa lang nagbo-bonding na kami para pagdating ng eksena kinagabihan kumportable kami sa isa’t isa,” he ended.

Chynna Ortaleza was sporting a new look when interviewed by PEP recently at the opening of POP! Nostalgia photo exhibit last June 3 at Crucible Gallery in SM Megamall.

She said that her short hair fits her as well as her new role as kontrabida to Richard Gutierrez in Codename:Asero.

Their last project together was Sugo where she played one of Richard’s leading ladies together with Isabel Oli. But this time, she won’t be a leading lady to Richard but one of his opponents.

She said that it’s okay with her playing villain roles. She said that she’s happy because she’s given complex roles that she can play with once the taping starts.

This will be her second time to play a villain. She first played a kontrabida role in Atlantika starring Dingdong Dantes.

She also said that she got this new look to set her apart from other female actors on the show.

JC De Vera stands on his own

Posted by kaASARAN | 4:42 PM | ,

We saw a scene in Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita featuring Dina Bonnevie and young actor JC de Vera. We were curious to see how JC fares because being pitted against La Bonnevie could be scary for a less seasoned performer like him.

To our great surprise, JC succeeded in giving out a believable performance that ought to merit him an acting nomination someday.

The handsome guy can truly act and we won’t be surprised that the presence of Dina as his surrogate mother in the top-rating novel inspired him more.

JC’s next project is Lalola wherein he will play Rhian Ramos’ alter ego.

Marian, Katrina rivalry may spark anew

Posted by kaASARAN | 12:15 PM |

Marian Rivera and Katrina Halili’s rivalry may spark anew as the two Kapuso ladies are neck and neck in the on-going poll conducted by FHM Philippines for this year’s 100 sexiest Pinays.

Although she’s never been on the cover of FHM, Marian Rivera is threatening to dethrone Katrina as the Philippines’ Finest.

When asked if she’s willing to pose for the said men’s magazine, “Bakit hindi. Kapag nag-number 1 ako…magkokober ako,” she replied smiling.

Meanwhile, Katrina is the reigning Philippines’ Finest for two years now.

It could be recalled that the two Kapuso ladies had this sort of on-and-off screen rivalry earlier this year.

Fortunately, they were able to settle their differences before their top rating show Marimar ended last March.

Both Kapuso ladies are currently doing good with their respective soaps.

Marian is starred in the country’s No. 1 program Dyesebel and Katrina on the top rating afternoon drama Sine Novela presents Magdusa Ka.

Other contenders include June 2008 covergirl Ehra Madrigal, Iwa Moto and starlet Angel Locsin.

Rhian Ramos thankful for new soap

Posted by kaASARAN | 12:12 PM | ,

In spite of all the intrigues, Rhian Ramos is still thankful for all the blessings that she’s been receiving. One of these is her starring role in the telenovela Lalola, a remake of a popular Argentine soap.

In her interview with Chika Minute during the opening of a photo exhibit by GMA Artist Center, Rhian is now smiling in contrast to her emotional interview last Sunday on Showbiz Central.

This time, she calmly explained her side on the issues being thrown at her. She also denied that she engaged in a fight with a fan of another Kapuso female star in a social networking site on the internet.

“Parang ipapalabas pa nila na masamang akong tao. Kung yung mga tao nga na kilala ko na inaaway ako ‘di ko nga papatulan lalo na yung di ko kilala ‘di ba?” paliwanag niya. “Tapos sasabihin pa nila na nagreplay ako… ganito… minura ko raw kung sino-sino… pagkatao ko na yun, masakit, tama na.”

Rhian believe that someone is using her name to destroy her reputation in the public.

“Kung dati binabato lang nila sa akin puro lalake… ngayon ang ginawa na nila puro favoritism… tapos ngayon bigla na lang nilang siniraan ang pagkatao ko,” she added.

After she gave her side, Rhian ask her detractors to stop and just let her be.

Right now, she’s putting all her attentions to her work most especially to her new soap. She is also co-hosting Pinoy Idol Extra with Karylle.

Eugene Domingo going solo?

Posted by kaASARAN | 1:40 PM |

How true is it that Viva Films is cooking up a solo movie for Eugene Domingo entitled Demetria (Matandang Dalaga)?

Well, if you’re as talented as Eugene and with a good reputation as hers, its no surprise that big movie companies will trust you with big movie projects.

As a matter of fact, Eugene will be in KC Concepcion’s very first movie under Star Cinema with Richard Gutierrez. She’s also a part of My Monster Mom by GMA Films playing a rich friend of Anabelle Rama and I.T.A.L.Y. with Jolina Magdangal, Dennis Trillo and Rufa Mae Quinto.

Another good news from Direk Joel Lamangan is that the talented comedienne will also be a part of Desperadas 2. She will play the role of a princess of Tsonga searching for her lost sisters played by Ruffa Gutierrez, Rufa Mae Quinto, Iza Calzado and Marian Rivera.

Eugene is also in the cast of GMA 7’s upcoming Koreanovela remake Ako Si Kim Sam Soon starring Regine Velasquez and Mark Anthony Fernandez.

Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita and Tasya Fantasya star Yasmien Kurdi will join TV Host/Comedian Allan K. in Japan to entertain our ‘kababayans’ there as the Philippine Embassy (Japan) Labor Office mounts its joint celebration in commemoration of the Migrant’s Worker Day and the 110th Philippine Independence Day on June 15 to be held at the Oji Ayukayama Park in Tokyo, Japan.

It will be Yas’ first time to visit the land of Cherry Blossoms. She said that she wants to visit the famous Tokyo Disneyland and that she’s thankful to GMA Pinoy TV for making her dream come true.

They were sent there to promote GMA Pinoy TV and GMA Life TV with IPS’ Access TV as its broadcast partner in Japan.

Kapuso shows figured in a tight race Friday as Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita put up a show of force by virtue of its 34.5% rating to challenge primetime leader Dyesebel which scored 36.1%.

Robin Padilla’s Joaquin Bordado also scored impressively with its powerful 34.2% rating to capture the third spot, 24 Oras was fourth with 29.5% and Pinoy Idol with its highest rating of 23.3% at fifth place.

In the daytime race, Daisy Siete emerged as No. 1 with 24.2% rating over Kaputol Ng Isang Awit with 24% at No. 2 and Magdusa Ka with 23.5% at No. 3.

Meanwhile, Eat Bulaga remained the No. 1 noontime show as it settled at No. 4 with 20.4%.

In Saturday’s battle, Eat Bulaga reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the daytime race and Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho in the primetime race beating closest rival Imbestigador and Bitoy’s Funniest Videos.

Last Sunday, SOP was again on top with 16.4% beating rival ASAP with 13.4% in third place. Meanwhile, Showbiz Central’s Anniversary Special also bested its rival show with 10.4% against The Buzz’ Anniversary Special with 9.7%.

Monday saw Dyesebel pulling away once again as it garnered 41% to settle comfortably on the No. 1 spot with Joaquin Bordado regaining the No. 2 position with 36.8% and Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita dropping to No. 3 with 30.6%.

'Kahit Sandali' the best of Jennylyn Mercado

Posted by kaASARAN | 3:11 PM

Jennylyn Mercado is back with a new album entitled 'Kahit Sandali' the Best of Jennylyn Mercado.

Gagambino lead actor revealed

Posted by kaASARAN | 3:08 PM

Gagambino was first attached to Richard Gutierrez. It was thought that it will be Richard's next project after Kamandag and before Captain Barbell Meets Darna. However, Richard opted to do Codename: Asero, an original story that he helped conceptualize, wherein he will be paired with newest Kapuso Heart Evangelista.

If the recent ‘destroy Marian plot’ had an effect on Marian Rivera, it would be sending her popularity to a greater heights.

In the media junket prepared for her newest Jag endorsement at the Dulcinea in Tomas Morato, Quezon City last May 30, Marian revealed that she never watched the said video showing her confronting a man in the set of Dyesebel.

She told the press that if ever that same incident happen again, she will still do the same. She also defended herself against those people who are saying that she’s ‘palengkera’ and that her actions in the video made her look like an uneducated person.

According to Jag, they are aware of the said video but it didn’t affect their decision of choosing Marian as their new female celebrity endorser. In their own survey, Marian is the No. 1 female celebrity today.

Last night, another four finally said goodbye to their hopes of becoming the very first Pinoy Idol as Rye Estrada of Iloilo, Sherwin Marquez of Dagupan, Vren Villaflor and Regene Ong from Quezon City were ousted in the second elimination night of the country’s grandest musical/reality talent search.

The remaining 16 Idol hopefuls are:

Boys
Warren Antig, 25, Baguio City
Kid Camaya, 24, Pampanga
Daryl Celis, 21, Rizal
Ram Chaves, 25, Cagayan de Oro
JJ Jr., 17, Bataan
Robby Navarro, 28, Pampanga
Toffer Rei, 23, Iloilo
Walton Zerrudo, 25, Laguna

Girls

Jayann Bautista, 21, Pampanga
Meryl David, 23, Bicol
Sue Ellen, 17, Iloilo City
Gretchen Espina, 20, Biliran
Mae Flores, 18, Marikina City
Carol Leus, 17, Batangas
Penelope, 16, Batangas
Jeni Rawolle, 20, Iloilo

Don’t miss their performance this coming Friday after Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita and Saturday after Pinoy Records.

The No. 1 showbiz-oriented talk show, Showbiz Central, hosted by Pia Guanio, Raymond Gutierrez and John ‘Sweet’ Lapuz together with Rufa Mae Quinto and DJ Mo Twister is now celebrating its first year anniversary throughout this whole month of June with a theme ‘We Are One.’
