Five Kapuso artists were chosen to represent the country in the 3rd Asia Supermodel Contest to be held in Guangxi, China from May 16 to 25.

The Philippine contingent includes Kapuso star Rhian Ramos, Bb. Pilipinas 2007 1st runner-up Abigail Cruz, Startruck graduates Arci Muñoz and Rhea Nakpil and newcomer Steph Henares.

MANILA, Philippines- ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. said Thursday that its net profit fell nearly 14 percent in the first quarter of 2008 due to the absence of one time gains made in the comparative period in the previous year.

In a regulatory filing, ABS-CBN said net income reached P242 million in the first three months of 2008, 13.88 percent lower than what it made in the same period in 2007, which included extraordinary gains from fees collected from subscribers who migrated to their DirecTV platform.

Without the extraordinary gains in 2007, the Lopez-owned network said its net income grew 23 percent.

The company's gross revenues increased by 3 percent to P4.3 billion during the first quarter of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007 owing to higher airtime revenues and direct sales. - GMANews.TV

MANILA, Philippines- Broadcast company GMA Network Inc. on Thursday disclosed that its net income grew 6 percent to P454 million in the first quarter of the year, powered by higher revenues.

In a filing with corporate regulators, GMA Network said its airtime revenues rose 1 percent to P2.4 billion in the first quarter of the year, while revenues from international and other sources grew by 6 percent.

The network's gross revenues, which consist of gross airtime revenue, production and others, went up by 2 percent or P39 million to P2.56 billion.

"Despite the absence of poll ads and early onset of Holy week this year as compared to last year, airtime revenue inched up by 1 percent to P2.4 billion," GMA Network said.

International operations ended the first quarter with P118 million in revenues, up 19 percent compared to P99 million in the same period last year. - GMANews.TV

Sisid reveals the country's countless marine marvels. Tubattaha Reef, off the coast of the Palawan Islands, is nominated as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. Miriam Quiambao and Doc Ferds Recio explore Tubattaha's giant corals and underwater species to showcase the Philippines's pride.

Susan Enriquez goes reef walking in the world-famous beaches of Boracay, and Howie Severino comes face to face with one-of-a-kind creatures of the sea in Verde Island Passage, considered the center of the center of marine biodiversity in the world.

Not all dives are light and fun. Some can be quite chilling. In the once lahar-stricken province of Zambales, Doc Ferds explores a "lost town", left completely submerged in water. Old structures in this sunken town literally turn to dust at the touch of a finger. Underwater time travel continues in Subic, with the exploration of World War II shipwrecks lying on the ocean floor.

Stories of the past also unfold in Malapascua, Cebu, as Howie Severino looks back on one of the biggest sea disasters in the country. He delves deep into the sunken ship, Dona Marilyn, which claimed the lives of 500 people twenty years ago. Together with a survivor, Howie recounts the stories of those whose lives were changed by this tragedy of the sea.

Beyond beauty and tales of history, trouble lurks beneath our waters. Sisid takes us to Guimaras, Manila Bay, and Anilao, to bring underwater issues to the surface.

The island paradise of Guimaras was devastated by a major oil spill two years ago. Today, we are still reminded of crustaceans covered in black grease along the shore. Sisid unveils the current state of Guimaras underneath its blue waters. The recesses of Manila Bay will also be explored to determine whether beauty has survived amidst pollution. And in Anilao, creatures called "crown of thorns" that destroy corals will be harvested.

Dive into the mysterious and fascinating underwater world. Sisid airs May 18 after Ful Haus.

Allan K will be in New Jersey for the very first time. He will join fellow Kapuso stars Katrina Halili and Jay-R for a series of shows on May 17 & 18.

The latest result of NUTAM (Nationwide Urban TV Audience Measurement) from April 27 to May 3, 2008 showed Dyesebel on top of the ratings chart with a 35.1% rating. It only proved that its claim as the Telefantasya Series of the Year is not just a mere fantasy.

Marian Rivera's dance album featuring the hits Chichiquita and So Sexy under Universal Records recently turned platinum.

Tagged as the reigning queen of Philippine primetime television, Marian can now also be considered a multi-platinum dance diva. She danced her way to the top via the phenomenal Marimar and now as a mermaid in Dyesebel.

She received her platinum record award in SOP two weeks ago.

She's the pretty 14-year-old girl who sang the Star Spangled Banner at the Pacquiao-Marquez fight last March and she is half Filipino.

GMA 7's newest Sine Novela offering Magdusa Ka premieres today after Daisy Siete.

Magdusa Ka is a remake of an 80's classic starring Dina Bonnevie and Christopher De Leon.

This time, FHM's sexiest Filipina Katrina Halili will star in her very first "bida" role after successfully playing "kontrabida" as Angelica in Marimar.

Also in the cast are Dennis Trillo who will reprise the role of Christopher De Leon, Iwa Moto, Gardo Versoza, Rita Avila, Jackie Lou Blanco, Liza Lorena, Prince Stefan, Rich Asuncion and many more.

It is directed by Maryo J. Delos Reyes.

GMA 7 shows remain strong as Dyesebel continues to dominate primetime programming. Meanwhile, Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita beats Joaquin Bordado to reach the No. 2 spot last May 07 with 36.4%.

In the daytime race, three Dramarama sa Hapon shows of GMA 7 took turns at the No. 1 spot. Maging Akin Ka Lamang was No. 1 last Monday, Kaputol Ng Isang Awit was No. 1 last Tuesday, Daisy Siete starring the Sexbomb Girls took over last Wednesday and Maging Akin Ka Lamang regains the lead last Thursday.
